Abstract: Simple approach for achieving high efficiency of solar pumped laser performance on the base of alexandrite active medium is proposed. Performance analyses have been conducted by simulating solar pumped alexandrite laser with core-doped parabolic shape composite active medium, using ray-tracing Monte-Carlo techniques. It is shown that the overall efficiency of alexandrite laser can be about 15% which is much higher than that of existing solar pumped lasers

Abstract: Research has shown that social participation has a positive effect on health, particularly mental health. We looked at the possible relationship between community participation/involvement, social networks, and the risk for depressive symptoms. The survey we used consisted of the Lubben Social Network Scale (LSNS-18) and the Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9).

Abstract: There are practically no studies on the relationship between defensive pessimism and health. The objectives are (i) To examine the relationship between dispositional optimism and physical and mental health, and also between health behaviors, and (ii) To determine possible differences in physical and mental health, and health behaviors, exploring three different conceptualizations of optimism/pessimism.
